Peter G. BOWLBY

(ABT 1819 - 8 JAN 1869)



After Peter died in 1869, his younger brother, Henry Clay BOWLBY, became administrator of his estate. The ages of children and state in which they were born on the census reports indicate that Peter and his family left Pennsylvania and moved to Jackson Co., IL. before 1845. Upon his enrollment as a private in Company A., 31st Regiment, Illinois Infantry on 13 AUG 1862, Peter was described as a farmer of 43 years of age, five feet eight and a half inches, having blue eyes and black hair. Peter was discharged before Vicksburg, Mississippi, as a wounded soldier on 23 JUN 1863.
