Death
Benjamin F. Shontz passed away at his home in Pittsburgh on Monday,February 6, 1939. Death was due to a complication of diseases. He was born at Entriken on September 12, 1872 and was the son of George W.Shontz and Margaret (CLAPPER) Shontz, both deceased. At the time of death he was aged 66 years, 4 months and 24 days. His wife, Millie (CRISWELL) Shontz preceded him in death eight years ago. Surviving to mourn his passing are three sons and five daughters: Mrs. Nellie Gregory, Miss, Floy Shontz, of Erie, Miss Anna Shontz, Miss Birdie Shontz, Miss Evaline Shontz, Herman Shontz, Forrest Shontz and Lester Shontz, all of Pittsburgh. These brothers and sisters also survive: George Shontz, of Braddock, John Shontz, of Lewistown, Mrs. Margaret E. Garner, of Entriken, Mrs. Katherine Myers, of Shirleysburg. He was laid to rest beside his wife in a beautiful cemetery in Pittsburgh. Services were held at the Oakley funeral parlors. Those who attended the services were, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Alison, Mr. and Mrs. George Shontz and Margaret Garner, of Lewistown, Mr. and Mrs. John Shontz and sons, Stanley and Ralph, Grant Smith and sister, Mrs. Anna Geassy.
