Ada May Seymour
1918-1994
Ada May SEYMOUR, 2300 Tabor Valley Road, died June 26, 1994 at Stoneybrook Retirement Center. Mrs. SEYMOUR was a resident of Manhattan since 1965; born June 14, 1918 in Gove County, Kansas; daughter of Arthur Randall and Vera Louise Jennison BENTLEY. Mrs SEYMOUR was a school teacher, and started teaching in a one room rural school in Gove County, Kansas. She taught several years at Kansas State University; taught two years at Soldier High School, Soldier, Kansas; and taught 19 years at the Chapman High School. She retired in 1987.
She was a graduate of Dighton, Kansas High School, and received her BS and MS degrees from Arizona University. Mrs. SEYMOUR was awarded Teacher of the Year award in the Chapman School District.
Her memberships include the Zeandal Community Church, where for many years she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Zeandale Sr. Citizens Group.
She married Harold SEYMOUR January 26, 1951 in Manhattan and he survives at home. Other survivors include four sons: Randall RIDGWAY, Columbus, Ga.; S. Jay SEYMOUR, Anchorage, Alaska; Roger SEYMOUR, Manhattan; James SEYMOUR, Manhattan; two daughters, Frances SEYMOUR-HUNTER, Topeka, Kansas, and Barbara CURRIER, Manhattan. Also surviving are one brother; Frederick BENTLEY, Shields, Kansas and two sisters, Reva LEWIS, Pueblo, Colorado and Leora BLISS, Auburn, Alabama. Ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive Mrs. SEYMOUR.
She was preceded in death by one daughter Margaret Irene SEYMOUR and by one brother, Robert BENTLEY.
