Death

Thursday, May 7, l925
MARY A. FISHER was born in Bedford County, Pa., April l5, l853, and died at
the home of her daughter MRS. RUTH WELLS in Council Bluffs, Iowa, April 28,
l925, at the age of 72 years and l7 days. She was united in marriage to JOHN
CALVIN NEGLEY at Buda, Illinois, In l87l. He preceded her in death, December
24, l9l6. On March l, l873, they came to Decatur County, Iowa, settling on a
farm west of Decatur City where they resided for 25 years. To this union 9
children were born, five boys and four girls. CHARLES dying in infancy and
RUBEN on November l6, l9l8. She is survived by her son, HARRY, of Omaha,
Neb.; WM., of Iowa City and OLIVER, of Underwood, Iowa; MRS. CORA BUCKINGHAM,
of Decatur; MRS. ETTA CAMPBELL, MRS. RUTH WELLS and MRS. ROSE SMITH, of
Council Bluffs, Iowa. Besides the children, two brothers, I.K. FISHER, of
Decatur, and W.L. FISHER, of Los Angeles, California; and MRS. LOTTIE SOUDER,
of Wayne, Nebraska; 26 grandchildren, l2 great grandchildren and a host of!
other relatives and friends are left to mourn her death.
She united with the Methodist Church at the age of l6 years and has always
lived a good Christian life, she was loved by all who knew her, always being
kind and good to everyone. During her illness which lasted almost two years,
she bore her suffering patiently ever trusting in Him who doeth all things
well.
The funeral was held in the Methodist Church at Decatur City, Iowa, on
Thursday morning, April 30th at l0:30, the services being in charge of the
Pastor, Mrs. N.C. King. The music was in charge of Mrs. Ruby Allen Black,
with Mrs. Boatman and Mrs. Painter, Mrs. Bessie Young at the piano. Burial in
the Decatur Cemetery.
