Birth
Married on the first Sunday after Whitsuntide. Hans was a "leather tanner" and identified on the Great Family Tree made by Heinrich Blumer (a kinsman) of Schwanden Canton Glarus, Switz. during his term of office as President of the Public Council of that City. That part of the Tree and Genealogy dating from 1835 to Apr. 22, 1851 was completed with great diligence and painstaking care as an undivided contribution to an historical memorial of this Noble and famous family. Hans (John) von Tschudi I. is the direct ancestor of approximately 90 per cent of our kinsmen (men, women and children) in America and many hundreds still living in Baselland and other parts of Switzerland.
