Death
"Wilmer "Piper" DONAHUE, 78, of 602 16th St., Saxton, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at 11:10 a.m., in the emergency room of the Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. His death was unexpected. Born July 17, 1921, in Robertsdale, he was the son of the late William J. and Janet (Wood) DONAHUE. He married Madge (Musser) BAUGHMAN June 1953, in Six Mile Run. She preceded him in death Feb. 27, 1991. Surviving are a daughter, Janet DONAHUE of Saxton and a stepson, Jon BAUGHMAN of Dudley. There are five grandchildren. One sister, Mildred DRENNING of Kenmore, N.Y. survives. One grandson; two sisters, Wanda DONAHUE and Almeda BROWN; a half-brother, Webster McCLAIN; and a brother, William J. DONAHUE Jr., preceded him in death. Mr. DONAHUE was a member of the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren. A graduate of the Robertsdale High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a sergeant during World War 11 and in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Huntingdon VFW Post No. 1754 and the Broad Top Area Senior Citizens. He was one of the co-founders of the Tussey Mountain School Service Personnel Association. He retired in 1983 from the Tussey Mountain High School maintenance department after 22 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 19, at 3 p.m., at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with Pastor Sarah Melone officiating. Interment will be made in the IOOF Cemetery, Broad Top City, with full military honors. Friends may call at the funeral chapel Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stonerstown Church of the Brethren."
