Carl W. Kensinger, 90, rural Duncansville, went home to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus, after a brief illness.
He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Daniel M. and Amanda K. (Carper) Kensinger. He married Elisabeth Ila Gearhart May 20, 1939, at Zion Lutheran Church, Hollidaysburg.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years; a daughter, E. Joy Detwiler and her husband, Allen M., of rural Roaring Spring; two grandchildren: Amy E. Will and her husband, Matthew J., and Carl Allen ''C.A.'' Detwiler and his wife, Valerie; and a great-granddaughter, Elisabeth Will.
He was the last of his immediate family of seven children, having been preceded in death by four brothers: Phillip, George, Arthur and Paul; and two sisters: Mary Mowery and Grace Frederick.
Mr. Kensinger was a member of Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church.
He was owner/operator of Carl's Farm Machinery, rural Duncansville, and was employed as a dairy farmer, hay and straw dealer. He also raised Charlois Beef Cattle.
Mr. Kensinger was a 1937 graduate of Morrisons Cove High School, Martinsburg.
He enjoyed flying his Piper Cub airplane, traveling and raising and tending to his animals, for which he exhibited a unique respect and compassion.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church, where a funeral service will be held at noon Thursday with Pastor Kurt Miller and Pastor Robert Russell officiating. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Martinsburg.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Snake Spring Valley Christian Academy Inc., 337 Upper Snake Spring Valley Road, Everett, PA 15537.
