Aaron LEWIS
(21 SEP 1839 - 22 JUL 1916)
Aaron served for the Union in The American Civil War as a Private. His company was organized in Indianapolis, Indiana as the 39th Regiment Infantry, on Aug 29th, 1861. This too was the date in which he enlisted. The Company designation changed to The 8th cavalry on Oct 15, 1863. They fought battles in KT, Tenn, Ala, and Ga.
He mustered out on Sept 13, 1864.
Aaron and Catherine made their way out west in approx 1873, most likely stopping in Ore. as Samuel was born there Aaron reached Pt Angeles, Wash in 1896. There he took up a quarter section homestead on Blue Mountain Rd. Catherine and two sons, Charles and Claude arrived in 1898
