Death
January 14, 2015, Lewistown Sentinel
Donald R. Walters, of Milroy, died on Jan. 11, 2015, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital. He went to spend eternity with the Lord.
He was a son of the late Clarence R. Walters and J. Irene (Nevel) Walters. His first wife, Tressie G. (Orr) Walters, preceded him in death in September 1982. His wife, Myra A. (Rudy) (Sulouff) Walters, survives.
He is survived by: his children, Kenneth W. Walters and wife, Kim, of Reedsville, William E. Sulouff and wife, Wendy, of Milroy, Todd V. Sulouff, of McClure, James A. Sulouff, of Petersburg, and Lori A. Womer and husband, Rob, of State College; a daughter-in-law, Melva Walters, of Lewistown; a son-in-law, Gary Scyoc, of Lewistown; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Walters and wife, Jeannine, of Reedsville.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Don was also preceded in death by: his sister, Faye I. Walters in December 2005; his son, Ronald R. Walters in August 2009; and his daughter, Wanda Walters Scyoc in March 2011.
He graduated from Armagh High School in 1948. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked at Lewistown Specialty Yarn (Avtex) for 39 years, retiring in 1992.
He enjoyed attending all his grandchildren's activities and was an avid Penn State, Phillies and Eagles fan. He also enjoyed quiet time, family time and being outdoors.
He was a member of Watts Memorial United Methodist Church in Belleville.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Douglas Pierce officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home.
Interment with VFW Post No. 7011 honors will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
