Death
Mrs. Mary Stayer, wife of Daniel Stayer, senior, deceased, died at her home
on the mansion farm about two miles north of Woodbury at 6 a. m. Thursday July 2, 1903, of a gangrenous affection after intense suffering, aged 67 years, 4 months and 22 days,
Her maiden name was Mary Replogle, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Replogle who resided on Three Spring run in South Woodbury township. Her husband preceded her several years ago and Mrs. Stayer died on the same day of the week arid almost the same hour of the day. One sister is yet living, Mrs. Elizabeth Brumbaugh, of Denton Md. Six sons and three daughters also survive. Also twenty three grand children. Mrs. Stayer was the mother of eleven children two having died in infancy.
The family is well known throughout the southern portion of the Cove. Two of her sons, John R. and Jacob C. are ministers in the German Baptist Church and Daniel R. is a prominent merchant of Woodbury.
The funeral occurred Saturday July 4 at 10.00 a. m. The services were held in the Replogle church near Woodbury and were largely attended, Rev. John L. Holsinger, of Bakers Summit, and Revs J. K. Brown and John B. Miller, of near Woodbury were officiating. Interment was in Replogle cemetery.
Rev. David Stayer and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Sams, of Tatesville, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Replogle and Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Mentzer, of Altoona, Mr. and Mrs. William Burns, of Johnstown, Joseph Replogle and Cyrus Replogle and wife of Pitts- [burg?] were among those from a distance who attended the funeral.
