The Progress, Clearfield, Pa., Thursday, August 23, 1979
KARTHAUS - Thomas G. Tate, 51, of Pine Glen, Karthaus, died at 3:16 a.m. Wednesday at the Centre Community Hospital, State College. He was a former resident of Curwensville.
Born Nov. 22, 1927, in Bigler, he was the son of J. Hamer and Mary (Michaels) Tate. In 1946, he married the former Kathleen Smith, who survives.
He was employed by the Clearfield Cheese Co. from 1941 to 1961 and the Rock Creek Cheese Co. in Iowa from 1964 to 1967. He was employed by Wonder Foods of Quehanna until 1971 and was affiliated with the West Branch section of the operations until 1977.
He is survived by the following children: Thomas Lee, Karthaus; Michael Lee, Deer Creek, Morrisdale; Stacy Lee, Naulton Road, Curwensville; and Sandra Tate Lovell, Jeffrey Lynn and Bryan Wynn, all at home.
He is survived by his mother and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Charles (Irene) Duke, Grampian R. D. ; Mrs. Reuben (Kathryn) Harris, Morrisdale R.D.; William Tate, Griggsville, Ill.; and Marietta Tate Ross, Curwensville R.D.
Mr. Tate is also survived by these step-grandchildren: Jacqueline, Michelle and Jennifer Hahn, all of Karthaus.
He was preceded in death by his father on July 13, 1979.
Services for Mr. Tate will be held tomorrow from the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home, Curwensville, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Charles Hess will officiate and interment will follow in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. today until the time of services tomorrow at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation.
