McCLURE - Marie Helen Goss Tate, 73, of 50 Rum Lane, McClure, died at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at her daughter's residence, of Lou Gehrig's Disease.
Born May 29, 1936, in McClure, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Emerson and Helen May (Sheriff) Goss. Her husband, David Lowell Tate, whom she married March 19, 1954, survives at Ohesson Manor.
Also surviving are children, Debra Marie Tate-Anderson and husband Jack R., of 256 Orchard Lane, McClure, Jeffrey Lowell Tate and wife Connie E., of 784 Old Park Rd., Lewistown, John Bruce Tate, of Snook Road, McClure, and Amy Annette Collins and husband Donald, of 511 Whiskey Road, McClure; a sister, Bernice Evelyn Goss Albrecht and husband Jacob A., of P.O. 7524, Wesley Chapel, FL 33545; a daughter-in-law, David Scott Tate's wife, Wanda Ann Tate-Bailey and husband Robert, of 1808 Timber Rd., Beavertown; eight grandchildren, Scott D. Tate and wife Amy, of 841 E. Ridge Rd., Middleburg; Laurel S. Patton and husband Bryan, of Burnham, Robyn L. Tate, of Lewistown, Jillian D. Tate, of Lewistown, Heather A. Tate, of McClure, Joshua J. Tate and wife Brittany, of McClure, John D. Tate, of McClure, Sammi M. Conner, of McClure and Nathan Collins and wife Heather, of McClure; and two great-granddaughters, Brai A. Tate and Joshyln W. Tate.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Scott Tate, Aug. 9, 1982.
She was a member of Samuel's Church. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening and painting and was a very devoted wife and mother.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at Samuel's Church, 480 Samuel's Church Rd., McClure, with the Rev. Clark S. Kelsey officiating. Interment will be in Samuel's Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 108 First Ave., Burnham.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ALS Association, 321 Norristown Rd., Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002.
