William Angelo CURCI

(21 MAR 1931 - 14 JUL 2021)

William Curci passed away peacefully at home in Naples on July 14, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born in Canton, Ohio, on March 21, 1931, to the late Mary Katherine (Schuffenecker) Curci and Angelo Curci. His brother, Joseph A. Curci, also preceded him in death.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, graduating 3rd in his class, and his master's degree in Architectural Engineering from the Catholic University of America. One of his treasured memories was the afternoon he spent discussing architecture with his idol, Frank Lloyd Wright, at his private residence. He opened his architecture practice in 1960. He created a master plan for the revitalization of downtown Canton, a portion of which was realized, and over the years designed large custom residences, multifamily projects, a country club clubhouse, schools, office buildings, and a variety of projects for the City of Canton, including new and remodeled fire stations. He also designed the EcoLodge, a precursor to the tiny house phenomenon.

He was also an inventor who invented and patented three products - two with building applications, and one for the flyfishing industry. The Hatch Fly File System was marketed in the LL Bean and Orvis Catalogs and through dealers in the US, Europe, and Japan.

He was an avid grouse hunter and fly fisherman. He was King of the Grouse Club and was an enthusiastic member of the Fish Club, PA. He treasured his time in the woods and on the stream and the hours spent with dear lifelong friends.
He was a gregarious person with a great sense of humor, who never met a stranger and made friends everywhere he went. He was involved in the community throughout his life, and held active memberships in the arts, business, and sporting organizations. He served as President of the American Institute of Architects, East Ohio Chapter, and President of the minor League Club.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Jane (Riggs) Curci, their daughter Erica, her husband Anthony Marra, and randdaughter Heather Marra.

He was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charitable organization of your choice. The family is so appreciative of Avow and the compassionate caregivers who provided exceptional in-home hospice care.
