MARTIN E. SILVERSTRIM, 92, of 131 Colonial Drive, Towanda, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully Monday morning, Oct. 15, 2018 at the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania. Martin was born Feb. 24, 1926, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the son of Martin P. Silverstrim and Louise S. Crutchfield Silverstrim. He was a graduate of Towanda High School and following high school was employed by the Lehigh Valley Railroad. Martin was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre. Following completion of his military service, Martin worked on various construction projects and was later employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Towanda for 28 years until his retirement in 1986.
