Death

William Francis Stuckey, 93, of Northumberland, left this life for his heavenly home on Nov. 26, 2019.
He was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Burnham, the second son of the late Richard B. and Ethel Mae (Plank) Stuckey. On June 19, 1948, in Lewistown, he married the former Pauline L. Beaver who preceded him in death on July 2, 2014.
William was a 1944 honors graduate of Burnham High School where he lettered in football and band. Upon graduation he enlisted in the Navy and trained at Bainbridge Naval Center, Maryland. Upon completion of basic training, he was chosen to enroll in the ROTC program
at Webb Institute of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Bronx, N.Y. where he trained to build naval vessels.
Following his military service, Bill enrolled at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Ill. in 1947. In 1950, the family returned to Burnham where Bill joined Beaver Bros. Baking Company where he later served as president. The whole family established enduring relationships with friends in the Lewistown area and at Calvary Bible Church, Lewistown.
In 1973, William joined his mother and brothers, Richard and Jack who owned the Mifflinburg IGA Foodliner. While at this location he was elected to the presidency of PA Bakers Association and also president of the National Retail Bakers Association. When the company was sold in 1990, he moved to Northumberland to enjoy retirement. In 2006, he returned to a home in Miffinburg.
Bill was a long-standing member of Sunbury Bible Church, serving several terms as Elder and as a member of the Missions Committee. He and Pauline frequently entertained missionaries in their home.
Bill enjoyed traveling, listening to classical music, reading in many genres, and listening to his wife play the piano. His children, grandchildren and many friends brought joy to his life.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Beth and Manat Tiptanatoranin of Wisconsin, Joan and Graham Rogers of Lewisburg, and William "Chip" Jr. and Robin Stuckey, of Northumberland; grandchildren, Julie Gaugler and husband Michael, David Rogers and wife Leanna, Rachel Grimm and husband Ryan, Laura Stuckey and step-granddaughters, Sarah and Marissa Spangler; five great-grandchildren, Evan, Brynn, and Aidan Gaugler, Benjamin and Eli Grimm; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Spania Spangler; four nieces, Cheryl Naulty, Marjorie Boyer, Linda Baum, Lisa Grimm; and several cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his brothers and their wives, Dick and Jeanne Stuckey and Jack and JoAnn Stuckey; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Jane Stuckey.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Sunbury Bible Church, 135 Spruce Hollow Road, Northumberland, followed by a memorial service at 11.
