Sturgis Journal July 27, 1961: "Russell W. KRONTZ, 35, a former Sturgis resident whose last address was Rt. 2, Bronson, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday in the University of Michigan Hospital after a long period of ill health. He had been a patient intermittently at Ann Arbor for treatment of a coronary ailment, and his condition became critical last Dec. 17. Mr. KRONTZ was born in Fawn River Township, Dec. 28, 1925, a son of Orin and Edith (SHEARS) KRONTZ. His marriage to Margie EDSON took place at Centreville, Sept. 7, 1944. Mr. KRONTZ was last employed by the Truman Miller Construction Company at Shipshewana, Ind. Surviving besides his wife are 10 children: Arthur, Orin, Melvin, Eleanor, Russell, Jr., Eugene, Joanne, Michael, Karen and Randall, all at home in Branch County; his parents, of near Centreville; one brother, Franklin KRONTZ, of Sturgis; and seven sisters, Mrs. Jessie CHAPMAN, of Sturgis, Mrs. Charles SCHRADER, of Centreville, Mrs. Richard SCHWEMER, of Camp LeJeune, N.C., Mrs. Weldon BELL, of Lodge, S.C., Mrs. Maurice HUBER and Mrs. Ralph FLOWERS, both of Sturgis, and Mrs. Virgil BELL, of Lodge, S.C. Surviving also are a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Satuday at the Foglesong Funeral Home, and interment rites will take place at Burr Oak Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning Friday morning."
