Family-Placed Obituary
SHANCK, Esther age 93 of 750 Chestnut Circle in Greenville, formerly of Potsdam passed away Monday evening January 23, 2006 at the Brethren's Home in Greenville. She was born on June 1, 1912 in Montgomery Co. to David and Alice (Brumbaugh) RINEHART. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Daniel, Clifford and Jesse, her sister Josephine KREITZER. She is also preceded in death by her dear husband Harris H. SHANCK and her daughters Jane SHANCK and Nancy GURKLIES. Survivors include her grandchildren Rebecca & Robert SELLMAN-Troy, Alice GURKLIES-Piqua, Keith & Laurie BREAM-Carlisle, PA and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary & Jesse CASSELL-Greenville. Esther was a lifelong member of the Brethren Church, growing up in the Salem Church of The Brethren and was presently a faithful member of the Potsdam Church of The Brethren. She was always there for her church and for her loving grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday January 27, 2006 2:OOPM at the Potsdam Church of The Brethren with Pastor Robert Kurtz and Chaplain Todd Reish officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 at the Hale-Sarver Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami St. West Milton, Ohio. If so desired contributions may be made to Hospice of Darke Co., Potsdam Church of The Brethren or the Resident's Aid Fund at the Brethren's Home.
