Death
Mrs. Harriet Stone Stapleton, widow of the late Thomas G. Stapleton, died
in Saxton, this county, on Monday, August 19, 1918, and the body was brought to Everett on Wednesday and laid to rest in the Everett Cemetery. Deceased was a daughter of William and Susanna Weaver Stone. She was born on July 10, 1838, and lived to the advanced age of 80 years, 1 month and 9 days. In October 1875, she was united in marriage with Thomas G. Stapleton, who proceeded her to the spirit world about thirty years ago. Left to mourn the demise of this venerable woman are the following step-children: Charles F., George, John and Amy of Saxton, and Harry of Bellwood. One brother, William Stone, of Akron, Ohio, and three sisters, Miss Lizzie Stone, of Philadelphia, Mrs. Nancy Rippey, State of Washington, and Mrs. Anna Fisher, of Decatur, Illinois, also survive. Mrs. Stapleton had been a member of the Church of God for sixty years and lived and died in the faith of the blessed redeemer. "Aunt Harriet" as she was familiarly known was always ready to help the sick or needy. She was a devoted wife and endeared herself to her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, the Revs. Stickler and Be.. (sic) officiating.
