THOMPSON-NORTH, Ethelyn "Ethel" Jean Marie, 97, Stewiacke, formerly of Nictaux, passed away peacefully January 8, 2013, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Auburn, she was a daughter of the late Orin and Ethel (Warner) Bowlby. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She loved playing the piano and taught others at an early age. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, bridge and later in life she found a new passion in oil painting. Ethel loved to spend time socializing with friends at Greenwood Mall. She is survived by her son-in-law, James Ross McDougall, Stewiacke; granddaughter, Leta Isenor (Dwight), Stewiacke; great-granddaughter, Ashley Cates, Stewiacke/Bedford; great-grandson, Evan Cates, Stewiacke; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Sylvia McDougall; grandson, Jason McDougall; first husband, George North; second husband, Balsor Thompson; siblings: Pearl, Scott, Bert, Evelyn, Ruth, Orin and Hyla. By her request a graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 12, in St. Mary's Anglican Church Cemetery, Auburn, Rev. Maya Bevan officiating. A reception will be held in St. Mary's Church Hall, hosted by the ACW. No flowers please. Donations in memory of Ethel may be made to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Victorian Order of Nurses or St. Mary's Anglican Church, Auburn. Ethel's family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Ryan Summers, Kathy Bonner and the staff of the 3rd floor at Colchester East Hants Health Centre for the amazing love, care and concern shown towards her.
