"BIG COVE TANNERY, [Fulton Co.] Pa. Jean Carey Weaver Mellott, 89, of Big Cove Tannery, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at her home. Born July 4, 1919, in Dunn Station, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Wilber and Pauline Blake Carey. Her husband, Robert O. Weaver, died in 1950. They were married in 1937. Her second husband, George F. Mellott, died in 2000. She was employed by Sagner Inc. in McConnellsburg, Pa., as a seamstress. She was a member of Cito United Methodist Church. She was a member of Fulton County Society of Farm Women, Cito United Methodist Women’s Auxiliary, Fulton County Medical Center Auxiliary, Democratic Club and worked on the Ayr Township Election Board. She is survived by one daughter, Rita Plessinger of McConnellsburg; one son, Alvey Mellott of Big Cove Tannery; one sister, Bess Irey of Amity, Pa.; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ann Seiders; one son, Robert Weaver; one sister, Mildred Wood; and one brother, John Carey. A memorial service will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Cito United Methodist Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Thursday from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cito United Methodist Church, 3746 Cito Road, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
