John ABEL
(2 APR 1917 - 7 SEP 1971)
John and LaVerne established their home in Eldred, PA where he worked for the National Powder Company. He graduated from Elkton High School in 1934 and attended West Nottingham Academy and atrtained his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1939. In 1948 John was employed as an explosive expert at Aberdeen Proving Ground in MD. where he helped develop a propellant for the first moon rocket. He took retirement in 1971 because of a heart attack.
