"The Elkhart Truth" 5 Aug 1963
James T. Schneck, 82, of 633 Maple Row, died Saturday morning in the Wilton Rest Home in South Bend, after a year of failing health. He was born Nov 2, 1880 and was a life resident of Elkhart. Retired in 1957, he had been employed by Buescher Band Instrument Co. for 35 years, and previously had worked at Elkhart Motor Car Co., Pratt Buggy Co. and Elkhart Carriage and Buggy Works. He was married to the former Elizabeth Bowlby who died in January, 1958. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Edna M. Phillips, Elkhart, and Mrs. Raymond Walter, South Bend; two sisters, Miss Florence Schneck of Elkhart and Mrs. William Gnoth, South Bend and two grandchildren. Friends may call at the White Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited there at 8 p. m. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Tuesdayat the St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church of which he was a member. The Rev. Richard J. Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
