Dr. J. D. Geissinger, one of the well-known physicians and surgeons of Spirit Lake, is a native son of Iowa, his birth occurring in Poweshiek county, February 2, 1880....When he was about 4 his family moved to Dickinson where he received his early education. He graduated from Milford High School and attended Highland Park College for three years and then attended Northwestern University where he obtained his M. D. in 1907. He spent an 18 month residency at Chicago's Cook County Hospital & then worked in association with Dr. Q.C. Fuller in Milford before setting up his own practice in Spirit Lake.
On August 31, 1910, John married Ellen Anderson, daughter of John G. Anderson. The Geissingers have two children: James D. and Rosemary Ellen.
Dr. Geissinger is a member of the Dickinson County Medical Society, the Iowa State Medical Society and the American Medical Association. He and his wife are connected with the Eastern Star and Dr. Geissinger is also a senior warden in the Royal Arch Mason lodge in Spirit Lake.
