Nelson BOWLBY, aged and lifelong resident of Wyandot county, passed into the sleep of death at 5:15 o'clock Thursday morning at his home four and a half miles east of this city following an illness of ten weeks, his condition becoming serious but a few days before his death, which was due to heart trouble and complications.
Nelson BOWLBY was born October 18, 1854, the son of Emanuel and Sarah Stahl BOWLBY, being aged 76 years, 2 months, and 27 days at the time of his demise. Thirty-five years ago Mr. BOWLBY was united in marriage to Ida Mae HUMES, who survives. Four daughters also survive, they being Grace, wife of Elmer KUENZLI of Nevada; Addie, wife of Guy ALVORD, of Manitowac, Wisconsin; Gladys, wife of John A. SMITH, near Nevada, and Pearl, wife of Samuel E. SMITH, of Bucyrus. A son and daughter preceded Mr. BOWLBY in death. Nineteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive with the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Alice TRAXLER and Mrs. Hester SIGLER, of
near Little Sandusky; D.W. BOWLBY, James BOWLBY and William Sherman BOWLBY, of Nevada. The following brothers and sisters are deceased; Mrs. Samantha LAMBRIGHT, Mrs. Lydia DINKLE, who died last Thanksgiving Day; Wellington BOWLBY, Marshall BOWLBY, Mrs. Rachel BACHTELL, who passed away December 31, but two weeks ago, and an infant.
Mr. BOWLBY secured an early start in life on his father's farm,
southeast of this city, moving to the present homestead twenty-five years ago. Throughout his life he followed the occupation of farming. Mr. BOWLBY attended the Rock Run church. Always ready to do any good and worthwhile deed for his home and community, his passing will be keenly felt. He leaves many friends and acquaintances throughout the county.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the Bringman & Co. funeral home with the Rev. Paul TEWELL, pastor of the Rock Run church, in charge. Burial will be made in the Nevada cemetery.
