Death

Verna E. Smith, 88, of Clinton Township, NJ, died peacefully at home. Born: On July 31, 1921 in Orion, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late John and Rosella Caldwell Hapes. Personal: She lived in Clinton Township since 1953, moving from Kansas living there three years after moving from Nebraska where she had lived one year. Her husband Lloyd E. Smith died in 2003. She graduated from Belvidere High School in Belvidere, NJ. She loved sewing and gardening. Survivors: Two sons, Douglas and his wife Amy Smith of Reaville, NJ and William and his wife Jennie Wells of LaTrobe, PA; four daughters, Carol and her husband Ron Lunden of Bechtelsville, PA, Sharon and her husband Charles Amerman of Conway, SC, Bonnie and her husband Gordon Graham of High Bridge, NJ and Debbie and her husband Robert Kraemer of Stockton, NJ; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters. Services: Calling hours will be Friday f
rom 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by 11 a.m. funeral services all at the Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at the Musconetcong Valley Cemetery Hampton, NJ.
