Death
Gilbert Boyer 1915-2008 BARNARD, Mo. - Gilbert Boyer, 93, of Barnard, passed away at home Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008.
Mr. Boyer was born Jan. 1, 1915, in Burlington Junction, Mo., to Ray Herman and Elma (Nicholas) Boyer.
He was graduated from Burlington Junction High School in the Class of 1933.
Gilbert was a loving husband to Mary Alice Helzer, who preceded him in death on Aug. 15, 2003.
He was a member of the Graham (Mo.) Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M., which joined the Savannah (Mo.) Lodge, where he received a 50-year pin.
He was a successful farmer and trucker, first in Burlington Junction and Graham before settling on his farm in the Barnard area in the early 1950s.
In addition to his wife, Gilbert was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy McKain; his parents; and five brothers, Ralph, Ernest, Donald, Robert and David Boyer.
Gilbert was the father of seven children, six of whom survive him with their spouses, Carolyn Wells, Lake Worth, Texas; Patricia and Thomas Brost, St Joseph; son-in-law, Larry McKain, Gladstone, Mo.; Mike and Marcia Evans, Rock Port, Mo.; Ken and Barb Evans, Overland Park, Kan.; Mark and Jeaneen Boyer, Faucett, Mo.; and Barbara Cowan, Barnard; grandchildren, Scott and Sandy Rasco; Michelle Herring; Shannon and Caitlin McKain; Annah, Pettlon; Tricia, Karley and Joshua Evans; Alicen Boyer; and Tim and Laura Cowan; great-grandchildren, Chris, Ashley, Mark and Karen Rasco; Hannah Herring; and Keyton, Jaxon and Anastyn Pettlon; great-great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Caitlin Rasco; and nieces and nephews.
Gilbert's small country home overflowed with family and love at each holiday and family occasion. He appreciated the community and good neighbors that added to his enjoyment of life.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Mo. Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Price Funeral Home, Maryville.
