Death
Obituary:Edgar F. BAKER, 85, of R.D. 1, Box 74, James Creek, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 13, 2001, at Nason Hospital, Roaring Spring. Born August 6, 1915, in Riddlesburg, he was a son of the late Avery and Mary (Stapleton) Baker. He married Mona J. Stone April 6, 1978, at Saxton, R.D. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Joanne) Riley and Mrs. John (Janie) Stetchock, both of James Creek, and a stepdaughter, Mrs. George (Dotty) Snyder, Hollidaysburg. There are six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one step-grandson and two step-great-grandchildren. One great-granddaughter is deceased. A brother, Avery R. "Jack" Baker of Huntingdon, survives. Two sisters and a brother preceded him in death: Bessie Fisher, Phyllis Tanner and Wayne Baker. Mr. Baker attended the Hesston Community Chapel. He was a member of the Woodcock Valley Lions Club and enjoyed boating and hunting. He repaired small engines and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglas in 1977, after 27 years of service. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 16, at 2 PM, at the D. Ronald Long Funeral Chapel, Saxton, with Pastor James S. Blair and Pastor Dan Ewald officiating. Interment will be made in the Russellville Methodist Cemetery.
