Eileen Elsie JARRETT
(20 Nov 1921 - 14 Jul 1986)
Eileen was born in Masterton and lived at Koporanga. She went to
Koporanga School then a change to Opaki due to teacher problems. She
would travel to school by either train or jigger. Then Masterton District
High School. On leaving school she worked for Wyeth's housekeeping by
Opaki racecourse. The in 1941 she married Doug and moved to Mt Bruce.
Eileen was involved with the Mt Bruce CWI which she received a gold medal
in later years. She served on the MikiMiki Home & School Assn. Eileen
also played social table Tennis for the local Mt Bruce club. She attended
the local Church meetings held at the Mt Bruce hall or school.
Eileen was a very good cook and interested in arts & crafts attempting
most things that could be made by hand.
On moving to Masterton Eileen got more involved with the Anglican Church
and Masterton CWI doing both admninistration and hard work organising
fairs etc.
Moving to Mt Mauganui Eileen again was involved with the local Anglican
Church doing Arets & Crafts for fairs and other fundraising events.
Eileen ended up in intensive care at Tauranga Hospital for about 6 weeks
with serious helth problems but came through them. 5 years later at New
Plymouth Hospital after hospital test revealed Terminal Cancer it was also
disclosed that she her operation 5 years before was connected with cancer.
Eileen spent m,any hours researching the family trees for the Jarrett
family, The Burling Family and the Peachy family recording over 4000
names. Eileen organised reunions for the Burling family and the Jarrett
family which were vary successful.

Burial
Eileen died of Cancer within 6 weeks of disclosure by doctors.. Herfuneral was conducted at Anglican Church in Inglewood. Anglican minister
did beginning part, Peter Christensen did message & Tribute with Capt Lou
King concluding. Many people commented that the last song lifted the roof
off as people sang the closing song.
