Joan Murly
(Abt 1719 - 21 Apr 1797)
Concerning Thomas MUDFORD born circa 1795, there is a grave in the West Chinnock churchyard cemetery (plot 51) which has the following inscription:
(Headstone) "Sacred to the memory of Thomas, son of James and Elizabeth MUDFORD, who departed this life March 10, 1819 aged 24 years (6 lines of verse).
Also of Joan MURLY, who died April 21, 1797 aged 78 years. Also of the above Elizabeth
MUDFORD, who died June 28th, 1828, aged 66 years."
Although I have no other evidence, it seems more than a likely chance that Joan MURLY was Elizabeth's mother, giving three generations under the same headstone.
