Jacques Vildaigre Perreault

(1629 - 17 Jan 1703)

It is through his Confirmation records, dated Feb 2, 1660, that we learn of Jacques Perrot`s origins, that is, from Mons, in Angoulême, Canton de Rouillac, Charente-Maritime in the province of Angoumois in France. He came to Canada around 1651. In April 1656, he took concession of a land on the Island of Orleans in an area which would later be known as Ste-Famille. In 1662, he bought a lot near Cap-Chat in the Gaspesie region of Quebec. In 1666, the census lists him, his wife, four children and a servant, Gregoire Gaudin. In 1668, he was cited in a claim against him from Barbe de Boulogne widow of Louis Dailleboust, Governor and Lt General for the King. He had to sell one of his properties in Quebec city and then became a money lender. In 1693 he sold his farm to his son Joseph for 4,000 pounds and an annual pension of 250 pounds.
