Life sketch[Find A Grave memorial: ID 126070379] Julien arrived in Quebec in 1650, at the age of 29 (his sister Marie came with him). He married Genevieve Gamache on 11 November 1652, in Notre-Dame, Quebec*. He had worked as a butcher in his father's shop in France and was promised a job with his brother-in-law, as part of his wife's dowry. Julien and Genevieve are the parents of the following (verified with PRDH): 1) Barbe (1654-1737) md (a) Pierre Gagnon and (b) Pierre Lessard 2) Charles (1656-1735) Marie-Xainte Cloutier 3) Eustache (abt 1658-1736) md Louise Cloutier 4) Jacques (1660-1730) md Marie-Catherine Biville dit Picard 5) Marie-Genevieve (1662-1703) md Noel Gagnon 6) Joseph (1664- ) md Agnes Cloutier 7) Marie-Anne (1666-1702) md (a) Jean Picard and (b) Etienne Mirambeau 8) Julien (1667-1687) 9) Pierre (1669-1756) md Marie-Gertrude Hudon dit Beaulieu 10) Louis (1671-1687) 11) Jean (1674- ) 12) Marie-Marguerite (1677-1703) md Pierre-Francois Fromage *"Our French-Canadian Ancestors" by Thomas J. Laforest , page 65 says that the marriage took place at the home of Louis Gagne, at Cape Tourmente, which was at that time within the limits of Sainte Anne parish. Please note that his baptism record simply has his name as Julien Fortin (named after his father), same with his immigration record, and marriage record. His burial record has his burial date, followed by (Mr) de belle Fontenne. His records on PRDH and in the Tanguay Collection have him listed as Julien Fortin dit Bellefontaine. 8th great-grandfather
