Laurent St-Aubin Levasseur

(5 Jan 1649 - 25 Dec 1726)

According to Tanguay, Laurent was the son of Jean and Marguerite Richard of Bois-Guillaume, Rouen, Normandie. Jean, Marguerite Richard`s husband, lived in Québec when Laurent married on April 30, 1670. His marriage records indicate that he was the son of deceased Jean and Marguerite from Bois-Guillaume. In Bois-Guillaume, the church registry shows in 1639 a Jean Levasseur married to Marguerite Maheu. They are probably Laurent`s parents as this gedcom indicate.

Laurent came to Canada on September 22, 1663 on either the 'L'Aigle d'Or' or 'Jardin de Hollande'. He worked for six years for Guillemette Hébert, Guillaume Couillard`s widow and Louis Hébert`s daughter. (Louis was the first settler in Canada.)
