François Bélanger

François came to Canada in 1636. He received land in 1639 in Château-Richer. In 1653 he was elected syndic for the Beaupré coast and in 1660 was named church warden in Château-Richer and in 1662, public curator for Olivier le Tardif`s affairs and in 1669 militia captain of Château-Richer. In July 1677, he was granted land along the St-Lawrence, later called Seigneurie de Bonsecours, from Governor Frontenac.

Please refer to a note about Nicolas Bélanger. Tanguay and Gérard list Nicolas as being born around 1633 and the son of François Bélanger and Marie Guyon. According to Drouin and PRDH, he is not the son of François Bélanger and Marie Guyon. Nicolas and François were cousins from the same parish of St-Thomas de Touques.
