Olivier came to Québec city, Nouvelle-France (Canada) in 1618. He was Samuel de Champlain`s assistant. (Samuel de Champlain is the founder of Québec city) Olivier was an interpreter as well as the General Clerk for the Compagnie des Cent Associés, as well as a sea captain. He is recognized as the Founder of Château-Richer.
