Jean Crête

A master carriage maker, Jean was baptized between 08 and 23 November 1626 in the parish of Saint-Aubin in Tourouvre (arrondissment of Mortagne),Perche, the third of four children (and only son) of Antoine Crete or Creste and Jeanne Legrand, who were married 29 October 1619 in Tourouvre
by Father Guillaume Loyseau. His godparents were Sebastien Legrand (Jeanne`s brother,son of Noel)and Marie Creste(wife of Jean Bouchigny),representing Agnes Legrand. His father,the son of carriage maker Jehan Creste and Marguerite Chaudon,was born 22 November 1592 and himself worked as a carriage maker in the hamlet of "Les Boullais" in the parish of Tourouvre. His mother was born 15 April 1595 in Tourouvre,the daughter of merchant Noel Legrand and Suzanne Loyseau. After her death,Antoine Crete married Martine Pignart about 1638.
