Nicolas St-Laurent Huot
(Oct 1631 - Bet Oct 1689 and Oct 1694)
The first religious documentation dates on July 25, 1662 when he married Marie Fayette. However his name is written as Nicolas Viot dit Saint-Laurens, from the parish of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois in Paris. Son of Laurent Viot and Aimée Beauvilain. From a census we estimate his birth year as either 1626 or 1629, however later documentation dates it to Oct 1631.
After their wedding they settled on the Beaupré Coast, Château-Richer, where Nicolas became Sheriff`s officer. He was accused of theft by Abel Sagot in a complaint dated July 26, 1664 due to not paying him for labour. It seems he had a sharp tongue and was charged for saying things about Catherine Caron-Dodier, Marie Trottin-Bouchard, Anne Saint-Denis-Migneron and Suzanne Rocheleau-Boutin. However he charged them with beating him with sticks. Later, he insulted Sieur Chartier of Lotbinière and had to kneel down and beg his forgiveness. Consequently his position as Sheriff`s officer was questioned and a new trial regarding the beating he had received from the ladies ended in his favour and they had to beg his forgiveness and pay a fine to the church of Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré.
Thus, he was not too popular in the area and began moving from one place to another. Genealogist Léon Roy researched his life and was able to conclude that he did died between Jan and July 1693, however Jetté widens the span between Oct 1689 and Oct 1694.
