Guillaume Morency Baucher

(3 Oct 1630 - 25 Oct 1687)

Guillaume Bauché receives a ground concession on April 2, 1656, of Charles de Lauzon, knight lord of Charny. Guillaume has been in Nouvelle-France for some time, probably for 36 months, this fact thus confirms, that he arrived about 1653. This ground of three arpents face on the St-Laurent river on l'île d'Orléans in Ste-Famille. Neighbours are Guillaume Landry and Pierre Loignon. Morency cleared this concession during 10 years, then resold it to buy another beautiful ground of six arpents also located on the northern side of l`île, between Jacques Perrot and Jacques DeLauney. The census of 1667 gives 25 arpents in culture and 10 heads of cattle. In 1681, Guillaume doubled this surface in exploitation, to nourish his 13 animals with horns. Guillaume Baucher died at 57 years of age on October 25, 1687, and is buried the following day, in Sainte-Famille, on the Island of Orleans. His widow, Marie Paradis died on December 15, 1708, also in the Island of Orleans with Sainte-Famille.
