Jeanne Anguille
(1647 - 12 Mar 1711)
Jeanne Anguille was baptized on 27 April 1643 in the parish of Saint-Maurice, located in Artannes-sur-Indre, Touraine, France. She was the daughter of Michel Anguille and Étiennette Toucheraine. In 1671, as part of the French Crown’s initiative to populate New France, Jeanne immigrated to Québec as one of the Filles du Roi (“Daughters of the King”). She brought with her a personal dowry valued at 300 livres, along with a royal gift of 50 livres, intended to support her establishment in the colony.
On 1 November 1671, Jeanne married François Allard, a native of Notre-Dame de Blacqueville, Rouen, France, in the chapel of Beauport, near Québec City. François was the son of Jacques Allard and Jacqueline Frérot. The couple settled in Charlesbourg, where they became among the early settlers contributing to the development of the community.
Jeanne and François had several children, many of whom established families in the region, furthering the Allard lineage in New France. Their children included:
• André Allard, born 12 September 1672; married Marie Anne Lemarché.
• Jean-François Allard, born 31 July 1674; married Marie Ursule Tardif.
• Jean-Baptiste Allard, born 22 February 1676; married Anne Élisabeth Pageot.
• Marie Allard, born 11 January 1678; died young.
• Georges Allard, born 9 February 1680; married Marie Marguerite Pageot.
• Marie-Renée Allard, born 16 May 1683; married Charles Villeneuve.
• Marie-Anne Allard, born circa 1685; married Pierre Bouthillier Douteille.
• Thomas Allard, born 17 March 1687; married Marie Charlotte Bédard.
Jeanne Anguille passed away on 12 March 1711 in Charlesbourg, Québec, at approximately 67 years of age. She was interred the same day, with the burial record noting her as the wife of François Allard.
