Jean Gaudreau Gotreau

Jean, and his brother Gilles, sailed to New France (Canada) on April 25, 1665 aboard the vessel "Chat de Hollande". They arrived at Quebec (Kebec) on June 16, 1665. Both initially settled near the then village of Quebec. Jean married Marie Jeanne Elizabeth Roy on July, 31, 1679 and would acquire land and settle in Cap Ste. Ignace. His brother would also relocate to Cap Ste. Ignace. On April 24, 1685, Jean died of unrecorded causes and was buried in Cap Ste. Ignace. He was listed in official documents as a farmer, carpenter and sabot(shoe) maker.
