Clément Bouchard
(8 Sep 1612 - 1662)
Born in France around 1612, Clement Bouchard was a man of seventeenth-century Poitou-Charentes whose lineage would eventually become deeply rooted in early French-Canadian history. The son of Marie Guibeau, as verified by the Fichier Origine, Clement spent his life in the historic region of Charente-Maritime. It was there, in the parish of Saint-Nazaire in the village of Andilly, that he married Louise Bressard dit Boillard on October 29, 1632. Together, Clement and Louise built a life and raised a family of at least five children, establishing a legacy that would ripple across generations.
Their children—Michel, Nicolas, Jeanne, Francois, and Paul—were born over the course of the next fifteen years. While daughters and younger sons like Jeanne, Francois, and Paul were born into the family in the 1640s, it was their eldest sons, Michel and Nicolas, who would later build prominent lineages of their own through their respective marriages to women like Marie Trottain, Marie-Madeleine Laporte, and Anne LeRoy. According to records preserved by the NosOrigines Genealogy of Quebec, Clement’s life came to an end around 1662 at the age of 49 or 50. He was laid to rest at the familiar Saint-Nazaire churchyard in Andilly, leaving behind a family story that geneallogists still track today under Memorial ID 123829430.
