Pierre Lambert was born on May 26, 1686, in the rural seigneury of Neuville (also known as Saint-François-de-Sales), located along the north shore of the St. Lawrence River in the District of Québec, New France. He was the son of French immigrant pioneer Pierre Lambert (1646–1712) and Marie Normand (1658–1712). Two weeks after his birth, on June 9, 1686, he was baptized in the parish church of Saint-François-de-Sales in Neuville.
Growing up in Neuville and later across the river in the seigneurie of Tilly, Pierre learned the agrarian rhythms of New France’s seigneurial system. He was raised alongside several brothers and sisters in a devout Roman Catholic family whose lives were closely documented in early parish registers.
Marriage to Louise-Catherine Grenier (1708)
As young settlers reached adulthood, forming legal and religious unions was essential for establishing landholdings and property rights in the colony. On November 24, 1708, Pierre signed a formal marriage contract in Québec City. Two days later, on November 26, 1708, he married Louise-Catherine Grenier at the parish church of Sainte-Croix, situated on the south shore of the St. Lawrence River.

The late autumn of 1712 brought immense tragedy to the family. Both of Pierre's parents passed away within weeks of each other in Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly. Being one of the eldest surviving sons, Pierre stepped into a role of family leadership. In December 1712, he formally petitioned the judicial court of Québec to be named legal guardian (tuteur) of his minor siblings: Marie-Anne, Augustin, and Jean-Baptiste.
After establishing his adult independence, Pierre entered a second marriage on January 17, 1714, at the parish of Saint-Nicolas in the seigneurie of Lauzon. His new bride was Marie-Louise Boutret (also recorded as Boutret dit Dubois), daughter of Jacques Boutret and Marie David.
Family Life and Later Years in Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly (1715–1757)
Pierre and Marie-Louise settled in the parish of Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly along the south shore southwest of Québec City. Over the course of their multi-decade marriage, the couple raised a large French-Canadian family. Their children—including Marie-Louise, Pierre-Noël, Étienne, Charles, Marie-Charlotte, Marie-Geneviève, and René-Marie—grew up working the farmland and establishing their own homesteads along the south shore.
Pierre spent his remaining decades as a respected farmholder in Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly during a period of relative colonial growth and stability prior to the Seven Years' War.
Death and Burial (1757)
Pierre Lambert died on May 4, 1757, at the age of 70 in Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly. He was buried the following day, May 5, 1757, in the parish cemetery of Saint-Antoine-de-Tilly. His life spanned the defining era of New France’s expansion, leaving behind a broad family line across rural Québec.
