In Feb 1647, Jean begged the Ursulines to hold a young Huron, Barbe, who had just completed four years of education with them, and gave them 300 lbs for which 100 was to be kept for her should he not come back. However, she wanted nothing to do with him, refused the money and went back to her tribe.
