NOTES:I gave Micah a blessing on July 25,1975 prior to his being flown to the university hospitol in Minneapolis,Mn. Mary and I arrived in Minneapolis on friday the 30 July. Upon arrival I called Allen Johnson Jr.,Helen and Allens son I had known him since he was a young teenager. Al assisted me in blessing Micah. The doctors had said he had taken a turn for the worse. It was a beautiful blessing. Micah held on. What a beautiful baby. He had the most beautiful blue eyes. I could since feelings and thoughts he was giving off. He was a precious spirit. On Friday and Saturday night we (Mary and I) stayed inswered later) The next day we spent most of the day in the hospitol with Micah. He seemed to improve. Yet the Wednesday before at Midnight he took a turn for the worse. His vital signs went drastically down. Helen and Alan Johnson drove over to be with Bonnie and Alan, there son and daughter in law. They had never been to the pageant in Palmyra, New York but for some reason when it was time to leave they decided to go to Minneapolis. We knew no other people in Minneapolis at that time. They arrived that evening.(Saturday) I asked Alan to assist me in giving Micah a Blessing that evening. Alan was a councilor in the Dearborn Ward Bishopric. It was a special blessing but it was not said if Micah would live or die. What a blessing to have someone as special as the Johnson's with us at that time. That night I prayed again as fervently as the night before. Still no answer just a feeling of peace. I pleaded that Micah might live, Oh! how I wanted him to live. On Sunday Mary and I went to church with the 2 Johnson families. After church we returned to the hospital and Dr. Thompson told us we could leave Micah on the machine for possibly a week and he may live that long. He explained that Micah's diaphragm was to badly damaged and was rupturing on a regular basis. They had to do surgery the night before night. We decided that it would be better to take Micah off the and let him return home to Heavenly Father. I had no reason to doubt that was what Heavenly Father wanted. Mary, Helen, Alan Sr., Alan Jr., and I were at the hospital when at this time. I requested that I give him a blessing prior to removing him from the machines. At that time I blessed Micah that he would return home and that he only needed to come to this earth for a body. I blessed him and thanked him for choosing us as his parents and how grateful we were to be his parents. I blessed him that he would be able to work with our ancestors that had died that I would do the work for them on this side of the vail and he would do the work for them on the other side of vail. He was sealed up to eternal life by the priesthood and blessed on returning home. We then had the doctor and nurses remove him from the machine and Mary and I held him for a while. Helen, Alan Sr., and Alan Jr. were there. Oh ! What a Precious experience. How I loved him. I know we were close on the other side. What pain to have one of your children die in your arms. After a while I closed his eyes, wrapped him in the blanket and gave him to the nurse. His spirit had left. Mary and I were both in a state of shock. Sunday afternoon we said good by to the Johnson's. We stayed in Minneapolis until the following day, then returned home. I still don't understand that! Mary Kay and Macky stayed with some friends in Virginia, MN our home.
