Dear Herman,

If you are wondering why I am writing, I will explain. I married Mary Elizabeth Saterfiel, the eldest daughter of Fred Lee Saterfiel who was a brother of James Wesley Saterfiel. Gary Saterfiel, a great grand son of William Bartley Saterfiel and I are attempting to compile the family tree and history of James Saterfiel, b. Tenn. and Laura Blass, b. Marengo Co., Ala. Their children were, Andrew who left home at an early age and was never heard from again, James Henry (grand pa), Martha Leanna who married a Gibbons and William Bartley.

James Henry Saterfiel married Mary Rebecca Jones, and they had the following children. James Wesley (your grandfather), John who died young, Laura who died young, Melvin, Lula Mae, Fred Lee, Ora E. and Charles (Charlie) Alexandra. I have all the lines completed except Uncle Wesley's and I need your assistance in getting it. I have Clarence's, address but not Dean's and the others. I would appreciate it if you will contact them and get them to work up their family and their families down to the last generation. I would appreciate it being given on this order.

Was a Landmark missionary Baptist minister. Issue:
James Wesley (Your Great Grandfather), John who died young,
Melvin,
Lula Mae,
Fred Lee,
Ora E.,
Charles (Charlie)Alexander.

Gary lives in Lubbock, Tex. And he is now in the process of trying to trace the ancestorage beyond- James Saterfiel and Laura Blass. It is quite a job and can be very expensive. Our intentions are to put this in book form once it is completed.

Mack ,hello.
mom(faye) wanted me to let you know,Hermon is in pretty bad
condition,after a fall which broke his hip.He had surgery ,after he was built up with 3 pt.s of blood.He is
also in renal failure,which is why he was anemic,
and neededthe blood.Dad has asked to hear from Dean,can you tell us
any thing ,to let dad hear from him?
dad `s mind come`s and go`es,but he still is quite lucid at time`s.
That is the time`s he ask`s about dean.

Death

Personal Knowledge of L.M. Saterfield, Uncle Herman died of complications from congestive heart failure on Saturday evening, March 11, 2000.

The flowers were blooming,that awful sad day.
The Doctor said,there just was no way,that death was coming.It could come today
My mind became busy,with prayers and with thoughts,of the tremendous battles this dear man had fought He worked hard every day,from morning til night,never a grumble,work was his plight.
He worked for the Lord,in the battle for souls, pointing to Christ and His heavenly goals.
He laid not up treasures,of earthly goods, he offered up souls to the glory of God.
He cared for the sick,and dying,and came, asking for blessings,in Gods Holy name.
The day my dad was taken from the nursing home ,more dead then alive, to the
hospital,where he died,on March 11th,2000.
This is how i recieved this ,and where i recieved this,while my mind and heart were so enmeshed with the fact of loosing my precious dad.I loved him so!

God called another of His children home on Saturday,March11,2000,after his sudden death at Glenwood regional Medical Center,at the age of85.A man who had served inGod`s gospel since 1950.
He was born Oct.20th,1914,in Newton,Mississippi,to the union of Mother, Bertie Dean Saterfiel and Father,James Wesley saterfiel,who have preceded him in death along with eight brothers and a very special Granddaughter Deborah Sue Clark of Tucson,Az.
Services for Rev.Saterfiel of West Monroe,La will be Monday,March 13,2000 at Conway Baptist Church in the community of Marion,La with Rev.Terry Mims and Rev.George Leonard officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation to be at the church at 1:pm Monday until time of service under direction of FarrarFuneral home of Farmerville.
He is survived by his most prized possession of this life,wifeFaye E Kennedy of West Monroe with whom he would have shared 70 years of marriage on November 1 2000.Together they were blessed with eight children,2 sons which were called to be Angels as only infants and six surviving children: James Hermon and wife Beverly,Carl and wife Sharon;
Daughters:Mary Kazarian and husband John;Carol Arrant and husband Raymond, Sharon Knox, Paula Knox and husband Earl, One brother Dean Saterfiel and a host of many,many family members and friends.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
This loving man will be forever missed by all who knew and loved him.
