Monday afternoon Otho Paugh, aged about 82 years, in company with his son-in-law, Lewis A. Groves, were driving from Oakland to Gorman. Near Gortner, six miles south of town, the shaft of the buggy became disconnected and fell on the heels of the horse which frightened the animal and it became unmanageable. The buggy was upset and the occupants thrown out. Mr. Paugh was very seriously injured. Along with numerous severe bruises and cuts his should was dislocated. Mr. Groves head was cut in several places and he was also bruised about the body. Dr. Hinebaugh attended the injured men.
