WESTERNPORT - William Gerald Ferguson, 79, of 107 Oakview Drive, Westernport, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at his residence.
Born April 12, 1918, at Luke, he was the son of the late William L. and Essie Rae (Hershberger) Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson was retired from Westvaco Corporation, having worked in the Cutter Room. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion, Westernport, and Queens Point V.F.W. Post 6775.
He is survived by his wife, Nelda (Fisher) Ferguson; one son, Gerald E. Ferguson, Loudon, Tenn.; one daughter, Betty Beavers, Westernport; one sister, Nina Daniels, Moorefield, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Harold Beavers, Amy Riggleman and Kelly Beavers; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Beavers and Cortney Riggleman.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home in Westernport, on Sunday, Feb. 1, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be at the funeral home on Monday, Feb. 2, at 11 a.m., with Father James Hannon officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, where full military honors will be accorded by the combined Veterans organizations.
Queens Point #6775 V.F.W. will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Lung Association.
