Individual Details
James Ketcherside
(12 Nov 1735 - Abt 1795)
It is purely speculation that James Ketchside is the father of James Ketcherside SR. Thomas Ketcherside was born about 1765 in NC and James Ketcherside SR was born between 1780-85 in NC.
The father of Thomas Ketcherside is listed as James Ketchside. Because both Thomas and James were born in NC, and because James Ketchside died in Rutherford, NC where James Ketcherside SR was born, I believe they are father and son.
Also, Abijah, the only son listed to Thomas, and James both moved around between Tennessee and Missouri. By matching the birth dates of Abijah's children, it is seen that they match the times James was in those areas too (census reports)
James Ketchside - born in England, died in NC
James Ketcherside SR and Thomas Ketcherside - born in NC
James Ketcherside SR born 1780-85, Thomas Ketcherside born 1765.
Both spell their name Ketcherside.
-James Ketcherside is in the " Maryland Militia 1732-1763" page 81 - #42 Private, Ketcherside, James. Roster of Alexander Beall's Co of Maryland Troops, 9 Oct 1757- to 30 Dec 1758, 448 days of service. (NOTE: Alexander Beall was from Prince George Co., Md., Prince George Co, borders the state of VA.) ( Check the Prince William Co., VA deed books, Book Q pp 591-594 will give you the first deed of land for James Ketcherside, his wife Sarah and Mary K.) Anyway, this James Ketcherside is the first one to come to America, and he is the ancestor of all our Ketchersides here in the states.
