Josiah Childers Sr

(Abt 1777 - Bef 1860)

Josiah and his family obtained land grants and settled in Polk County, TN after the Cherokees were moved to Oklahoma about 1838 and the lands were opened to white settlers. Josiah and most of his children then migrated to Arkansas around 1850 when it was opened to settlers and then some of them moved on to Missouri. Burrell`s brother, Archibald, remained in Polk County where he raised his family. Arch is supposedly buried on the Childers property in an unmarked grave but near his son, also named Burrell, who is in a marked grave. I received this information from Wm. Don Jarvis.
