ROCKFORD, Ill. - Irene I. Nance, 85, of Rockford, Ill., died at 4:31 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born April 6, 1922, the daughter of Paul and Anna (Schimelphenig) Neider, in Trenton township. She married Olle W. Nance, Jan. 24, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1992. Irene was a member of Alpine Lutheran Church.

Survived by her children, Ann (James) DiVerdi, Loves Park, Ill., James P. (Joan Minter) Nance, Belvidere, Ill., and Jerrold (Jane) Nance, Minong, Wis.; grandchildren, Tanya, Marie and Nickolas DiVerdi; great-grandson, Preston; step-grandchildren, Timothy (Kris) Scales and Thomas (Justine) Scales; and step-great-grandchildren, Gary and Eli Ecklund and Kayla Olson.

She was also preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Grienke, and step-granddaughter, Janell Ecklund.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, Ill. with the Rev. Dr. Richard J. Meier of Alpine Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, prior to the service in the funeral home. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Highland Memory Gardens, Beaver Dam. Memorials to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.
