Neither Robert Looney Sharp nor his wife Isabell are recorded as being able to read or write. Other residents of the household were wife Isabell Sharp (Age 57; born in South Carolina), son William H. Sharp (Age 23; born in Missouri), Williams' wife Mary Sharp (Age 22; born in Illinois), and Robert's daughter Casandra J. Sharp (Age 18; born in Missouri), who is listed as "domestic."
